The Sister City Agreement between Netanya and Sarcelles was signed on 23 March 1988 by Yoel Elroi, Mayor of Netanya, and Raymond Lamontagne, Mayor of Sarcelles.
Sarcelles is a suburban city located approximately 15 km north of central Paris, in the Val-d’Oise department of the Île-de-France region. The city has a population of approximately 59,000.
Sarcelles combines its historic center, known as Le Village, characterized by picturesque streets and a historic church, with modern neighborhoods developed from the 1950s onward as part of France’s post-World War II urban expansion.
Historically, the city’s economy was based on agriculture, particularly vegetable farming and vineyards. As it expanded, Sarcelles evolved into a dynamic multicultural city, offering residential neighborhoods, commercial areas, employment centers, educational institutions, cultural facilities, and sports amenities.
Today, Sarcelles is an integral part of the Greater Paris metropolitan area and serves as an important urban center in the region. The city promotes numerous initiatives in the fields of education, culture, community life, and urban development, while continuing to invest in its public spaces and green areas.
