On 25 June 2026, a Cooperation Protocol was signed in Netanya by Avi Slama, Mayor of Netanya, and Dr. Emmou Sylvestre, Mayor of Port-Bouët.
The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Irena Livshitz, Deputy Mayor of Netanya and Commissioner for Tourism and Foreign Relations; Feni Kouakou, Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Israel; Daté Koffi, First Counsellor at the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Israel; Colonel Yaké, Military Attaché of Côte d’Ivoire in Israel; Olga Lurie, CEO of the Netanya Association for Tourism, Foreign Relations and Twin Cities; as well as members of the Port-Bouët municipal delegation: Fulbert Lokougnan, Director of the Mayor’s Office; Patrick N’Doly, Technical Adviser; and Fatou Frich, Cooperation Officer.
Port-Bouët is one of the principal communes of Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d’Ivoire. Located on the Atlantic coast, it is home to Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, the country’s main international gateway. With a population of approximately 700,000, Port-Bouët is a major center for transportation, trade, tourism, fisheries, and urban development.
The Cooperation Protocol between Netanya and Port-Bouët aims to promote collaboration in the fields of social welfare, education, culture, tourism, economy, infrastructure, innovation, and youth exchanges, while encouraging the exchange of knowledge, professional expertise, and the development of joint initiatives for the benefit of the residents of both cities.
The cooperation between the two cities is founded on the principles of friendship, equality, and mutual benefit. Its objective is to strengthen relations between the two municipalities, promote joint projects in areas of common interest, and contribute to the further development of relations between the State of Israel and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.
