Before the promenades, hotels, and well-known beaches, there was a small community with a big vision.
The Netanya City Museum invites visitors to take a journey through time and discover the people, places, and events that laid the foundations of the vibrant city we know today.
Located in the heart of the city, in the historic “Beit Ora” building that served for decades as the municipal workshop, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Netanya’s past. Here, visitors can explore the story of Netanya, from its beginnings as a small settlement surrounded by citrus groves and sand dunes to its transformation into a thriving coastal city.
The permanent exhibition, “Netanya – From Vision to Reality,” presents the city’s history through rare photographs, historical documents, original artifacts, personal testimonies, and interactive displays. Through these exhibits, visitors are introduced to the people, ideas, and events that shaped Netanya over the years.
Among the displays are stories of the pioneers who founded the city, the development of the citrus industry, everyday life in Netanya’s early years, and the city’s role in absorbing immigrants and helping build Israeli society. Alongside the permanent exhibition, the museum hosts guided tours, educational programs, special events, and temporary exhibitions.
One of the museum’s treasures is its municipal archive, which contains a rich collection of photographs, documents, and historical materials documenting more than nine decades of local history. The archive serves as an important resource for researchers, students, and anyone interested in learning more about Netanya’s heritage.
Whether you are a resident or a first-time visitor, the museum offers a unique opportunity to discover the stories behind the streets, neighborhoods, and people who helped shape Netanya.
