An unofficial visit to the twin city of Siófok, Hungary, was recently held by Mr. Ze’ev Oren, Logistics Director of the Municipality of Netanya, as part of the ongoing strengthening of relations between the two twin cities.
During the visit, Mr. Oren met with the Mayor of Siófok Róbert Lengyel, the Deputy Mayor Dr. Kovács Miklós, the Director of the Siófok branch of the University of Debrecen, the coordinator of the English program at the local high school, as well as with the Head of the Christian Community of Siófok, Mr. Zoltán Gombolós.
The Christian community of Siófok is known for its strong support of Israel and has expressed a clear interest in developing meaningful connections with young people from Netanya.
As part of the visit, Mr. Oren toured the Water Tower of Siófok, where a permanent exhibition is presented on the life and artistic legacy of the renowned sculptor Imre Varga, a native of the city. Among his most famous works is the monument “The Weeping Willow”, located near the Great Synagogue in Budapest.
