16 – Gallery on the Cliff

This art gallery is situated on a sandstone ridge above the beach on the Maapilim Promenade, one of the many promenades along the Netanya coastline. The gallery’s windows frame an entire pallet of colors – the green grass and trees, the yellow evening primroses and the turquoise blue of the sea extending out to the horizon.
The gallery is surrounded by a sculpture garden with a range of mosaic, bronze and metal sculptures created by a variety of artists. There are also several smaller gallery structures that are rented by local artists to exhibit their works.
Gallery on the Cliff was built in 1998 but underwent massive renovation two years ago. It is one of the most gorgeous galleries in Israel, hosting a large number of visitors from all over the country as well as tourists interested in viewing Israeli art.
After its renovation, the gallery was reopened in February 2018, hosting a shared exhibition of works by native Netanya artists, followed by shared exhibitions of Israeli artists focusing on modern art. Some of the artists featured are: Zev Engelmayer, Vered Aharonovich, Tamar Karavan, Ahia Canna, Shulamit Etsion, Sigalit Landau and more…
Gallery on the Cliff is a prime point of attraction in Netanya for art and culture enthusiasts, exposing city residents and guests to quality art pieces and an exceptional cultural experience.
Every summer during the months of July and August, the area adjacent to the gallery is transformed into a small concert hall under the stars. Every week, different chamber ensembles perform on the backdrop of the beachfront sunset. This tradition has earned itself regular attendance by a dedicated group of music lovers, who come each week to enjoy an hour of instrumental or vocal music, or a combination of both! Tourists and one-time guests also join the audience for a cultural medley of exquisite music and fine art atop the cliff.
