The swimming season in Netanya has ended, but don’t think that there is nothing to do in our city except the beaches. Cool weather has its advantages – you can take long walks along the promenades, visit parks, reserves, open-air museums.
Very close to Netanya is a real rainforest. Thousands of rare orchid species collected around the world grow there. The unique Utopia orchid park is one of the few places on Earth where you can simultaneously see ravenous flowers, enjoy the Butterfly Garden, a labyrinth of plants and a myriad of animals. You will enjoy all of these and more as you walk between waterfalls in the most picturesque exotic site.
The Cactus Ranch in Mikhmoret offers horseback riding possibilities along the coast around Netanya, the beaches, cliffs, dunes, the Alexander River and the fields of the Tel Gador Nature Reserve.
The Vicar Observatory is a large shaded terrace that rises above the Mishmar Hasharon reservoir, which absorbs flood waters from the Alexander River. Around the reservoir is a beautiful ornamental garden with lawns and flowers. There is a walking trail in the garden that rises to the Vicar Observation Point, and the roof offers beautiful views of thousands of bird species during the migration season.
Park Yakum Nature Reserve is located near the Wingate Institute on an area of 500 dunams. There are many beautiful flowers: wild daffodil, purple iris, tulips. Also, the park is famous for the oak groves and trees that grow only in Israel. Near the reserve is a lake in which ducks swim. For children – an animal’s area and adults will appreciate the barbecue area.
