According to the curator, updated to the current situation:
What does the absolute void look like?
A feeling of lack in the human soul. Usually out of a feeling of helplessness over the emptiness she or he feels. “There is a void left in me.”
Space by its nature is empty, a vacuum, longing to be filled with something.
I wrote this paragraph as an introduction to this exhibition long before October 7. We could not imagine then in our minds the war, the unbearably heavy price that we would pay, the additional meaning that the word that hit us with a more painful force than ever: martyrs of Israel’s systems.
It seems that a huge void has been left in all of our souls since then. Real and emotional. Each and every one of us, whether by personal acquaintance with spaces that are not, or whether by our special nature that makes us one body, collective but.
How can you see space? Are you empty?
Maybe we’ll see the people who feel it. Perhaps it can be recognized from the outside despite being internal and perhaps we will recognize it in the public space which is the body of all of us, as pain, as longing. Perhaps by perpetuating one space.
If it is possible to give expression to such an elusive feeling, it is only through creation and art. And perhaps by trying to define the difficult feeling, we will be able to comfort and console ourselves. To move from mourning to action, to gain meaning and to become stronger.
