The words of the curators:
Today’s alarm horns are called “sirens” after the mythological sirens whose song is pleasing to the ears of sailors at sea. However, unlike the sirens from the islands in mythology that lured and drew us towards danger, the sirens are a signal for us to move away from the threat.
The siren, a beautiful mythological figure of temptation and danger, now takes on a modern form – serving as a symbol of survival, and a warning to seek shelter in a situation of threat.
The artists exhibiting in the exhibition explored how the myth of the siren resonates in times of war and conflict; the siren as a symbol of both temptation and danger – whether in personal, social or political contexts; the gap between beauty, passion and destruction, with an emphasis on the “invisible” or inaudible warnings before catastrophe.
In this exhibition, your diverse works and the different interpretations of each artist will be presented.
In the blessing of silence, peace and the return of all the abductees.
