Israel NK Orchestra
Program no. 4 – THE UNEXPECTED GUEST
Soloists: Öystein Baadsvik – tuba | Conductor and trombone soloist: Christian Lindberg | Miki Lam – English horn, Guy Sarig – trumpet
Öystein Baadsvik is not only the greatest tuba player in the world, he is also one of the few artists today who has more than 2 million hits on youtube. Our music director has been friends with him since long, and was commissioned to write a super virtuosic concerto for him which he gave the title “PANDA IN LOVE”. Öystein is himself a composer, and here he returns Christian’s favor and challenges Christian in a piece for Tuba, Trombone and Orchestra called “Fnugg Red” (referring back to his previous hit called Fnugg Blue with over 1 million hits on Youtube). In addition to this a more
classical and familiar frame: Mendelssohn’s beloved Fingal’s Cave Overture and his 8th Symphony for strings.
Felix Mendelssohn: The Hebridies Overture (Fingal’s Cave)
Christian Lindberg: “Panda in Love” for tuba and orchestra
Öystein Baadsvik: “Fnugg Red” for tuba, trombone and orchestra (World Premiere)
