Sputnik 60 - International exhibition
ROSCOSMOS State Corporation for Space Activities presents the International Space Exhibition #SPUTNIK60 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the start of humanity’s space era and celebrate all the space pioneers.
Sixty years ago began the humanity’s space era. On October 4, 1957, the first artificial Earth satellite was launch — it was the first man-made object to achieve the first cosmic velocity of 7.9 km/s. This was the result of many years of collaboration between tens and hundreds of thousands of scientists, engineers, designers, technicians, construction workers and others. Under the leadership of SERGEI KOROLEV they worked on the innovative technologies to overcome the Earth’s gravitational pull, bringing closer the start of the space era.
That was followed by the first animals on the Earth orbit, the first space probe Luna-1 to achieve second cosmic velocity, the first manned space flight by Yuri GAGARIN, the first female cosmonaut Valentina TERESHKOVA, the first space walk by Alexei LEONOV, Neil ARMSTRONG’s first step on the Moon, and hundreds of other triumphs. Each time, millions of people would look to the sky and the stars in hopes and expectations of new victories and discoveries. And today we ask everyone to LOOK UP! — and to strive for the stars and the discoveries of unknown.
